Frequently asked questions

Do I need SRA accounting reports? 

Under the Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA) all solicitor firms who deal with client money are required to obtain Solicitors Accounting Reports. There are two exceptions to this rule set out by the SRA:

·      All of the client money held is specifically for legal aid

·      The amount of client money held within the client account does not exceed : 

     (i)  an average of £10,000 and 

     (ii) a maximum of £250,000 

What is the SRA reporting deadline?

The SRA states that the Solicitors Account Report must be acquired within six months of the end of the accounting period and if qualified a copy must be sent to the Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA).
